Caitlin is good with a pen, terrible with a sword. She can fold a paper frog but can’t levitate. Sometimes she fantasises about walking in slow motion in a sequin suit. Some days she’d like to trade places with her cat. She was born in Tasmania, jumping the ditch early to live and work in Melbourne. Please don’t ask her to water your plants (they will die).
The serious stuff: Caitlin Ziegler is a multi-disciplinary designer and occasional illustrator and writer. Her studio, Ziegler Design, ran from 2005-2017. Her work has been published by Penguin and the Oxford University Press and seen in the Australian Poster Annual. Caitlin has taught Graphic Design at Swinburne University, is an AGIdeas Alumni member, sat on Design Victoria and State of Design Festival advisory panels and was a preliminary judge for the Premier’s Design Awards. She was Co-president of the Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) in Victoria and National Secretary in 2009. Her design practice encompassed branding, publishing, wallpaper, product and digital outputs with a strong focus on collaboration and effective project management.
Caitlin completed her Professional Writing and Editing Associate Degree at RMIT in 2017. Her illustrated children’s book with Margaret Robson Kett A Construction of Cranes was published by Kettlestitch Press in 2019. Caitlin was part of the ACT Writers Centre HARDCOPY program in 2018 and is working on a cli-fi dystopian novel for young adults. She is currently a Director and the Head of Innovation for GRIST, a tactical leadership consulting and behavioural analytics company, where she applies a human-centred design approach to learning strategies and behavioural change for some of Australia’s largest organisations.
